Day 2-Lost in the City

Well a big hello from Brazil!  Today we went on our first field trip and met up with the peeps that we will be doing the internship with.  The all are either teachers or students at an art school and use a ton of recycled objects for their work.  It was a lot of fun to go around and see their projects and then after we got to mess around juggling, walking the tight rope, balancing on one of those boards, a bogo board maybe...it has the round wooden piece under it that you have to balance on?  Anyway, there were a bunch of kids around that just had a ball showing us around and talking to us.  On the way home my roommate Carla and I completely missed our stop and were not able to get off the bus for two more stops because it was so crowded!  The best part is that neither of us had been to that side of the city at all and had no idea where we were and it was getting dark!  But we made it, no worries.  It kind of feels like I am back on the mission, only a different one.  But once again I find myself often walking with just me and my "companion", we are in a foreign country where we are both trying to learn the language and speak it as much as possible and we are trying to learn the city and have no idea how to get around yet!  It is a lot of fun, the biggest differences though are not having to wear a skirt and not proselyting all the time.

We are staying with a lady named Silvia.  She is divorced but still has a great relationship with her ex, they have a two year old son named Gabriel, he is very shy, but super smiley all the time, and then a maid that lives and works here named Adelma.  She creates a feast for us every morning and evening.  The families that we stay with are in charge of feeding us breakfast and dinner and let me just tell you, every morning is like a buffett with all sorts of fruit, cereal, eggs, toast, cake, milk, juice...tons of food and then butter and cheese and this other good stuff that I am not exactly sure what it is but is tasty!  And they expect you to eat a ton!  Um hello!  The food here is so good, you must miss it real bad Kevin, but no worries, I am eating enough for both of us right now.  K, that might be an exageration because you eat a ton, but I hope you get the idea ;)

After we finally made it home from our bus adventure (speaking of adventure I am pretty sure that I mispelled the name of this blog thing, I put adventursome but I think it should be adventuresome, my bad, please ignore), anyway we ate a fantastic dinner and then we went to a party in the middle of the city with a live band and dancing and stuff.  We met a few other members of our group there and had a blast but on the way home, some of the guys had come with the guy they are staying with and he had a car so we all got a ride, but this other kid, Mitch, couldn´t remember how to get to his house, so we drove around for about an hour looking for it and asking people how to get there.  Second epic getting lost story of the day.  I won´t tell you how we resolved it but it was fun and it turned out just fine!  I will post pictures later, I just need to get them.  Like the genious that I am I had my camera with me the whole day, but left the battery back at the appartment charging, brilliant I tell you, brilliant!
