I am so burnt that it is not even funny. Luckily my face is not nearly as bad as Erika´s was, bahahaha! Like I was saying, Maceió was amazing! The people that I went with are basically my favorite people in the world, and it was the best little weekend get away ever...if you ever are taking an awesome study abroad in Brazil and need a getaway that is, from paradise to...paradise?!
This is the girl that we stayed with, her name is Camilla and she is super funny. She served in the same mission as Berkley, I am thinking that it is a place in Brazil called Belém, but I could be completely wrong on that! Anyway, Berkley said that serving with her was probably the equivalent of serving with me-aka tons of fun all the time!
This is us eating Tapioca filled with strawberries and brigadeiro which is a super delicious chocolate, they were super duper tasty. I have no idea why I have a black eye in this picture, and I didn´t have one when I got home sooooo, there was actually a huge black insect flying by right as Berkley took the photo and it was positioned so perfectly that it looks as though it has taken up residence on my face right under my eye. Do not fret however, we killed it before it could burrow into my skin and lay eggs, phew, it was a close call though!
This was Camilla´s hat, boy was it a strange one. Super floppy, when you have it on correctly you can´t even see unless you do as I have done in this picture and fold the brim all the way up, which kind of defeats the purpose of wearing a hat. Anyway, even then it doesn´t stay fixed for long before it flops back in your eyes. This picture is a great before shot, whereas the one above is the after shot. Can you see how my skin has mysteriously changed colors? Well wonder no longer, it is not that we used a different camera or because the lighting was different, though all of those are good answers and if you said that you should get a marshmellow as a reward, but they are wrong, it is because I got sunburned after 5 hours of swimming in the ocean with the fish! I did put on sunscreen, I just didn´t think it was important to reapply it, wrong-o!
This is our little sailing group, minus Jonny who is taking the picture. We have, going from left to right, Sara, Natalia, Berkley, Camilla and then yours truly, I kind of blend into the background with my bright yellow shirt and bright blue pants, but if you look really hard, and if you are good at finding Waldo in those books then you should be able to just make me out! To the right of us is our little cute sailboat, it´s name is July-not the Portuguese version of that word either, straight up, plain and simple July.
Ahhh, my most favoritest girlies ever, Natalia and Berkley. We had so much fun this weekend, you know the kind of trips where you make all sorts of inside jokes and just have a blast being in each others company? Well that was definitely our weekend. A few of our jokes: Camilla´s mom was on the phone telling someone about us and I came in right when she was telling them that she had three girls there with accents and I merely questioned her on who she was talking about, `who has an accent´I said, and they all thought that was super funny and so it was one of the quotes of the week (basically a lot of these stem from words that I said wrong or quirky things that I tried to say in Portuguese, cause yes, even here people tease and mock me. I call it the Dean Lythgoe complex, everyone seems to jump on his band wagon. Was it so wrong of me to spit my doughnut into his face when he asked me so kindly to? I submit that it was not, but now the torment is endless, and it is a good thing that I love it!) Ok, the next one is that we were sitting by the ocean and this helicopter was flying by, so I waved at it, a natural thing to do and a hobby enjoyed by many people, then I saw that it was a police or military helicopter and the guy at the door had a huge gun and I just knew that my life was over. He was going to shoot me down right there for the impertinence of waving at him, so I slunk down in the sand, and was miraculously saved by a flying man in a leotard..or something like that! Maybe I will tell you the rest later, loves you all!
